Reporting on the coronavirus continues to have top priority for the daily media.

For a year now.

The development of vaccines is currently one of the most important issues.

The effectiveness of the vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has been a topic of conversation in the past few days.

The "Handelsblatt" reported that the vaccine was not effective enough for the age group of over 65-year-olds and was only eight percent.

The reporting was harshly denied.

In this edition of the “Media Week” we talk about the special responsibility of the media, but also the special challenges during the corona pandemic.

As in the previous week, we are also dealing with Clubhouse, the social network of the hour.

The Thuringian Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow had expressed disrespect for Chancellor Merkel during a round of talks and said he was playing on his smartphone while attending Prime Minister conferences.

After Ramelow's statements were published by WELT AM SONNTAG, a heated debate broke out as to whether clubhouse discussions should be reported (spoiler: it must not just be, it must).

Also in this edition of “Medien-Woche”: The “Stern” wants to relocate its politics and economics departments to Berlin and place them under the direction of the editor-in-chief of “Capital”, Horst von Buttlar.

This is accompanied by job cuts.

The magazine's staff protested.

The "Spiegel" is also rumbling - apparently Barbara Hans, one of the news magazine's editors-in-chief, is supposed to go there.

Employees criticize the way in which Hans is supposed to be pushed out of their job.

“Die Medien-Woche”

is a podcast about the world of media and its makers.

Christian Meier, editor at WELT, and Stefan Winterbauer, editor of the Meedia industry service, talk every Friday about the most important topics of the week.

Profound, analytical, entertaining.
