  • Where are the women in media and culture?

Not at the head of the 100 largest French cultural companies.

From this observation, the Parisian incubator Creatis decided to launch the Source program to "bring out a new generation of women entrepreneurs".

  • This free support for women from Ile-de-France aims to follow two promotions of 20 media or culture projects in 2021 and 2022.

  • In order not to support the projects of women all with a similar profile, Source is aimed at women from priority neighborhoods, students or job seekers who are ready to embark on business creation.

A New Source of Talent.

Creatis, via the Source program, wants to “bring out a new generation of women entrepreneurs in culture and the media”.

To reveal these new profiles, this Parisian incubator of the SOS Group is launching two free support programs for women in Ile-de-France ready to embark on business creation.

“La Prépa” and “l'Incubation” are each waiting for 10 projects - led by one or more women - to be supported.

The calls for projects are open respectively until February 25 and March 11.

Emilie Friedli, CEO of Creatis, presents the new generation of 30 entrepreneurs that Source intends to emerge over the next two years (80 project leaders over 2 years)

Why launch the Source program?

We started from the observation that only 11 of the 100 largest French cultural companies are headed by women.

It's not much.

And we are finding that this phenomenon is also noticeable in smaller companies.

Creatis launched this program dedicated exclusively to women to fight against their under-representation in the cultural and media sectors.

In our systems, we often support profiles of identical women entrepreneurs.

We have decided to open Source to very different profiles, in particular by addressing women far from the cultural and media ecosystem and from entrepreneurship.

We target both students and women from priority neighborhoods, job seekers or business creators under 18 months old.

What tools are available to women entrepreneurs?

We have created two programs for them.

One of initiation to entrepreneurship: "La Prépa" which lasts a month and a half where you work on the fundamentals.

We help women who arrive with an idea to move on to the project.

The other program is “Incubation”.

For six months, we welcome women who have had a business for less than 18 months and who need support.

All Source women will be mentored by entrepreneurs or managers in the culture and media sectors.

We often talk about the lack of diversity of the TV experts who are 50-year-old white men.

To mentor your entrepreneurs, will there be a diversity of profiles and not just 50-year-old white women?

Those who will sponsor the projects are indeed only women.

They come from different backgrounds and have very different experiences.

Training can be given by women or men.

At Creatis, in our programs, we fight so that there are at least 50% of supported women, 50% of women who provide training and 50% of women in the selection committees.

* Creatis has chosen to use “entrepreneur” rather than “entrepreneur” because the term is “better understood”, explains Emilie Friedli.
