Sophie Leveaux, artistic director of acquisitions and international co-productions of TF1, is the guest of "Culture Médias" on Friday.

It unveils exclusively on Europe 1 the names of the two important series, “Clarice” and “Debris”, which the channel has just acquired.

Series eagerly awaited and not yet broadcast in the United States.

INTERVIEW

Series have become a crucial part of broadcasters' strategy.

It is on them, in particular, that channels and platforms rely to attract their audience.

We must therefore choose them well, and then manage to obtain them.

It is the work of Sophie Leveaux, artistic director of acquisitions and international co-productions of TF1, that

Culture Médias

receives on Friday

.

It exclusively reveals the last two acquisitions of TF1,

Clarice

and

Debris

.

Clarice,

the

Silence of the Lambs

investigator

The first series bought by the chain is therefore

Clarice

, a spin-off of

Silence of the Lambs

, which will arrive in the United States on CBS on February 11.

"It's really one of the most anticipated series of this year," observes Sophie Leveaux.

The series will follow the character of the investigator who pursued Hannibal Lecter in new investigations against sexual predators.

"We will have to wait for the 13 episodes to be broadcast in the United States," warns Sophie Leaveaux.

It is counting on a broadcast on TF1 in 2022.

Debris

, heir to

X-files

TF1 also acquires the science fiction series

Debris

, broadcast from March on NBC.

"We are in the vein of the

X-Files

. Two investigators who are opposed will work together to understand where a debris with amazing properties fell on Earth comes from," she explains.

"I've never seen such a cinematic photo."

The

Debris

series

should arrive on TF1 in 2022, "or perhaps before", specifies Sophie Leveaux.

Doc

season 2

Sophie Leveaux also explains that the very competitive series market now forces channels to make real bets during the acquisition stage.

"We sometimes take risks from a pitch, a talent or a script," she explains.

"These are commitments over 13, 15 or 20 episodes, even sometimes over several seasons".

TF1's artistic director of international acquisitions and co-productions is also announcing that season 2 of the Italian series

Doc

, which is due to start filming soon, should be broadcast in autumn 2021 in Italy and on TF1.

If the health crisis does not disrupt this common calendar.
