E. coli infection, blood poisoning, corona: the extraordinary medical history of a combative premature baby from England is causing a stir in the kingdom.

According to media reports, little Archie was born 15 weeks prematurely and weighed just 765 grams when he was born in early December.

At five weeks he became infected with the intestinal germ Escherichia coli and the infection led to blood poisoning, as the broadcaster BBC wrote online.

A week later, his parents learned that their son had tested positive for the corona virus.

He was isolated for ten days.

His mother describes him as "our little fighter".

The corona diagnosis scared her very much, the 21-year-old from the northern English county of Lancashire told the broadcaster.

When she was finally able to hold it again after ten days, she felt like she was in seventh heaven.

The boy now weighs 1.3 kilograms and is doing better than ever before.

"I could burst with joy, I'm so proud of him," the broadcaster quoted Archie's mother on Thursday.

"Words cannot describe how much I'm looking forward to bringing him home." Because of the corona pandemic, his parents are only allowed to visit him individually in the hospital.

After giving birth, Archie was initially unable to breathe, according to the report.

His parents weren't allowed to touch him until four days after the birth.

His mother told the BBC that when she was allowed to hold her son's hand for the first time, it was the most magical moment of her life.
