The Philippines refuses blood money of $ 166,000 to settle the case of the murder of a maid in Kuwait

The Philippine Foreign Minister Teodoro Luxen refused, a ransom, in exchange for settlement and reconciliation in the case of the murder of the maid Janeline Villavind, who died as a result of torture inside the home of her Kuwaiti sponsor.

The minister confirmed, through his Twitter account, that he had issued actual orders to the Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait, Muhammad Nuruddin Lomondot, to reject any attempts to pay a ransom to the maid's family, and to ensure that the death penalty was implemented against her employers convicted of killing her.

The maid, Janeline Villavind, died in late December 2019, as the soldier who worked at his home took her to the hospital, but she was dead, so the hospital medical staff would initiate to inform the Ministry of Interior, after they detected signs of an assault on the maid’s body, after which the soldier and his wife were arrested .

At the time, the Public Prosecutor in Kuwait ordered the imprisonment of al-Askari and his wife in the Central Prison, after they were charged with premeditated murder, and referred them to the Criminal Court to try them and apply the punishment against them.

The criminal court ruled at the end of the year 2020 to execute the wife accused of killing the maid, and to imprison her military husband for four years.
