The figure is impressive.

But not that surprising.

In France, 86% of middle and high school students consider their school establishment too noisy, according to an Opinionway survey * carried out on the occasion of the 18th Semaine du son and revealed by

20 Minutes

.

And guess who has the prize for the loudest place?

The canteen, of course.

According to this survey, lunch time is by far the most strenuous on the decibel scale (89% of respondents), in front of the corridors (83%), the entrance hall (83%) and the gymnasium ( 79%).

Middle school and high school students are not the only ones concerned.

In elementary school, the situation is perhaps even more difficult to maintain.

In the Côtes d'Armor, the town of Saint-Julien, not far from Saint-Brieuc, had a silly idea to try to limit the noise in its school restaurant.

A traffic light has been installed in the room and turns red when a threshold is crossed.

Each of the 80 children present must then "make an effort" to limit the nuisances, as mentioned by

Ouest-France

.

The daily recalls that a first investment was made in 2012 for the purchase of noise reduction tables, which limit resonance when handling plates and cutlery.

"Enjoy the silence", sings Depeche Mode in 1990. Thirty years later, the case is still relevant.
