Oh man, how nice, he even knows what "eloquent" means!

When candidate Esther is happy after two minutes of small talk with the new "Bachelor" that he understands complicated German words, that is actually the key scene of the second episode of the dating show.

Because it stands wonderfully for what many viewers should have already thought: RTL has released a solid single for a change!

Because the bar has often been low in the past ten seasons.

They all looked good in their own way, of course, but is that enough to pass for a "dream man"?

If anything, one remembers the bad sides of some ex-“Bachelor”: How Daniel Völz kissed a candidate in 2018 and sent her home when the next decision was made (and of course the slap that was given for it).

Or the fact that Sebastian Preuss could hardly have a conversation with his candidates, so few topics came to mind.

Niko Griesert, the new one, is pleasantly different from many of his predecessors.

If only because it shows signs of self-reflection.

On the first night of the roses he poked fun at the rubbish he had uttered in the exciting moments of getting to know each other ("Who says that ?!").

Before the first dates, he now seems to have fundamentally thought about his appearance again: "You have in mind that you have to fulfill a certain role."

But what does this role actually look like?

From the viewer's point of view, this is above all like this: As a “Bachelor”, you shouldn't let it through as long as possible who you really like.

It should stay exciting, preferably until the end.

Griesert, on the other hand, does not even try to provide cryptic answers to questions about his emotional state.

Candidate Mimi?

"I like her, she's definitely buzzing around in my head." And Michèle, the former Instagram acquaintance?

He says to her: "I wrote to you back then because I think you are very good."

So much openness, so early in the season, that's new.

In recent years you sometimes had to wait until the quarter-finals to even recognize a favorite.

On a US dating show, Griesert would definitely be called “emotionally available”, available and actually ready for a relationship.

Even women who are not invited on a date feel this.

"I am definitely interested in you," he said, shortly before the roses were awarded, soothed a woman who was worried about her advancement.

Sure, Griesert often seems overwhelmed.

For example, when candidate Hannah reveals to him that she had a “lawnmower accident” and therefore only has one foot (that she was wearing a prosthesis was not noticed until then).

Since the "Bachelor" is downright speechless, he strokes Hannah's thigh, but rather as if he wanted to calm himself down.

At least he notices that one could have reacted more empathically in such a situation: The next time he sees Hannah, he asks her if he could tell her something about her prosthesis.

“I think you are perfect the way you are” - some may find it cheesy, but it comes across as honest.

Griesert doesn't just know what to say and when (maybe he copied it from his father, who is mayor in Osnabrück?).

He's also doing something that you can expect on this show, but that all too often doesn't happen at all: he flirts.

For example with Anna, with whom he goes on a tour on a tourist cutter.

When she indicates that she has cold feet, he offers her his thick boots, later he warms her hands.

Anna is also the first to tell Griesert about his nine-year-old daughter, who lives with her mother in the USA.

Anna simply laughs at Anna's funny answer - "I've also had a dog since I was 21".

This is exactly the right mix of fun and carefree, but also serious getting to know each other that makes a good date.

Griesert really deals with his counterpart, you notice that even at the rose ceremony: He can think of a meaningful sentence about every single woman, even about Linda and Denise, who are new to the quarantine.

Some of its predecessors had trouble remembering all the names at all.

So far, the new “Bachelor” does a lot of things right.

But a test is probably waiting for him next week: According to the preview, Mimi confronts him with the fact that he is not only showing interest in her.

Let's see what diplomatic formulation Griesert comes up with for "Hello, this is a dating show here too ???".

And here are the four funniest moments from the second episode

When the women move into their “Ladys-Villa”, a candidate screams happily on entering: “I can see pink!” Another is happy: “It's exactly my style, everything is huge.” Where does RTL have all the interior Specialists?

On their date, the “Bachelor” and Mimi try Base Flying.

In short: You can fall down from a skyscraper, secured on ropes, 125 meters down.

Of course Mimi is afraid of heights, otherwise she would definitely not have been considered for this activity.

But instead of glossing over the insane case as a "passed challenge", Mimi draws a wonderfully honest conclusion: "That was bad, really, really bad."

Finally it is explained what the "Bachelor" and Michèle have written on Instagram.

She was in an examination phase, he texted: “You can also study with me.” It's nice that both of them place such great value on education.

Maria, the woman who likes names (please read it here if you only understand the station), does not get a rose.

If he could say goodbye to her, Griesert asks appropriately bent.

“No need”, Maria calls out to him from a safe distance.

Men have nothing up their sleeves anyway, she says to the camera - and that means the show has a weird personality poorer.
