"BioNTech does not have enough factories to bottle the vaccine", according to the boss of Sanofi France, Olivier Bogillot.

The company wants to be able this summer to package the vaccines from the American laboratory in order to speed up their marketing.

Olivier Bogillot detailed this partnership at the microphone of Europe 1.

Sanofi has announced its willingness to support Pfizer-BioNTech in the preparation of vaccines, according to the formula developed by the American laboratory.

This cooperation will take place in a German plant of Sanofi, located near Frankfurt.

"Our factory is a few kilometers from where BioNTech's vaccines are produced, which must be stored at -80 ° C. It is a short circuit that allows this very fragile vaccine to quickly reach our production lines. ", explains Olivier Bogillot, president of Sanofi France, at the microphone of Europe 1.

Concretely, the vaccine will be delivered by BioNTech and bottled by Sanofi.

"BioNTech does not have enough plants to bottle the vaccine, which also requires special skills," says Olivier Bogillot.

This production will begin this summer, because it will be necessary to "order machines, to build them", the production lines not being currently able to carry out the vaccine.

"For this vaccine in particular, each bottle must be fully compliant with the previous one, so we will also train our teams", adds the president of Sanofi France.
