The founder and director of the Al Ain Film Festival, Amer Salmeen Al-Marri, revealed the launch of the National Film Industry Program initiative, in cooperation between the festival and Vision Films, with the aim of preparing cinematic talents from the people of the Emirates to move from the hobby stage to the professional.

He explained that the application for participation in the program will start on February 7 and will continue until April 10, indicating that the program will act as an incubating environment for cinematic knowledge and culture, and an opportunity to discover and cultivate talents that will create a new generation of professional filmmakers in the country.

Salmin added, during the launch of the initiative yesterday morning on the sidelines of the third session of the Al Ain Film Festival, which concludes today evening, that the program provides its members with theoretical and practical knowledge that nurtures their creativity and passion for making distinctive cinematic films, through the use of professional academic professors, pointing out that the program In its various stages, it will depend on a high degree of professionalism in teaching the foundations and rules that enable talents to move from hobby to professionalism, whether in the field of filmmaking or in the field of acting.

About the initiative details;

Amer Salmeen Al-Marri mentioned that the national program is divided into two parts: the first is concerned with preparing filmmakers, and the second is concerned with preparing actors, and the applicant is required to be a citizen of the UAE from the age group of 18 to 35 years.

The study includes a theoretical and a practical aspect in the two departments.

The director of “Al Ain Cinema” noted that the Department of Filmmaking Preparation provides the student with the components that make up the film, such as directing, script, photography, lighting, sound, montage, color correction, production, and others, which are elements that will be presented to the participants theoretically and in practice throughout the year, to enable the participants to have a deep understanding of the ABCs and stages of filmmaking. It provides participants with the opportunity to be trained in filming feature films produced in the UAE by professionals, with the aim of their direct participation in filmmaking and closely watching them for the professional work of filmmakers, photographers and technicians, which will give them the practical experience necessary for professional filmmaking.

As for the practical side of the study, it includes each student making his own short film, under the supervision of professional professors and directors, showing good films at the Al Ain Film Festival, and then participating in international festivals. It also provides opportunities for scholarship for the program’s graduates to study in well-established academic institutions specializing in cinema, including the Higher Institute. For the industry department represented in the program;

Amer Salmin considered that «acting is one of the basic pillars of cinematic work, and talent alone is not sufficient to make a professional actor, as the talented actor needs to have a real and deep knowledge of the mechanisms of film acting and to be trained to acquire them, which is provided by the Actor Preparation Department, which is based on the selection of a number of participants Those who have talent, readiness and seriousness, then introduce them to some theoretical concepts and information about cinematic acting, and compare it to theatrical and television acting. ”

The exercises included in this section include body and movement exercises to enable the student to focus and fully control the body, recitation exercises (breathing and voice), speech safety, imagination, and the ability to affect and influence, by presenting individual scenes prepared by the student, and bilateral and group exercises with the help of the professor. On the other hand, the practical training for preparing the actor includes, for each student to represent in a short or long film according to his abilities under the supervision of professors and professional actors.
