• Five stars: this is Andorra Park, the first hotel in the world with a classical ballet school

  • IDITAROD OF ALASKA.This is the toughest and most legendary toboggan race in the world

With one hundred peaks of more than 2,500 meters of altitude, the Principality is hooked by its Pyrenean landscape and the imagination of its inhabitants to exploit it.

These are some of the experiences that are worth living in Andorra.

Sleeping in an Airstream at 2,000 meters high

In Andorra it is possible to sleep in a sheltered high mountain refuge in the middle of winter.

It can be done at the

l'Illa refuge

in the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley or at the

Borda de Sorteny

refuge

,

located in the Sorteny Natural Valley.

The lodges are fully equipped and offer dinner and breakfast.

The best thing is to be able to go down skiing the next day, taking advantage of the first rays of sun that illuminate the entire snowy landscape.

If you prefer

glamping

, the Ordino Arcalís domain offers to spend the night in an Airstream caravan with dinner and gin and tonics in between.

Designed for two people, the station takes care of getting guests on a snowmobile.

Scenic helicopter flight

If you are an experienced skier, Andorra is the perfect place for this unforgettable experience: heliskiing.

The helicopter flies over the spectacular landscape to then drop you over the top of stations like Grandvalira so you can make some vertiginous descents.

But if off-piste is not your thing, a recommended option is to hire the helicopter (80 euros per person) simply to enjoy a panoramic flight and get an exceptional view of the entire territory.

High altitude gastronomy

In recent years, gastronomy on the Andorran slopes has taken a qualitative leap.

This is demonstrated by the

Wine & Meat Bar by Jean Leon space

in Grandvalira, where you can find excellent wines combined with gourmet products.

On the Vallnord-Pal Arinsal side, you can enjoy a good entrecote at the

Cow Bella

restaurant

, a small corner of the station with fantastic views of the northern valleys.

Finally, at the top of Ordino Arcalís, you can find the

Refugi de les Portelles

where you can enjoy typical dishes of mountain gastronomy.

Detox plan to choose

After playing sports, nothing like hot springs and a massage to relax your muscles.

And for that, there is no shortage of luxury hotels with fantastic spas in Andorra, such as the Andorra Park and Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa.

There is also no shortage of wellness centers, very popular in Andorra, such as Caldea, which is still the largest thermal spa in southern Europe: more than 30,000 m2.

A feast of pools, waterfalls, bubbles and whirlpool jets at 70 degrees Celsius.

The

spa

center also has an

adults only,

the Inúu spa with specialized treatments.

Build an igloo as a family

With Filomena we have learned that you never know when you will need to know how to build an igloo.

Just in case, in the

Grau Roig sector of

the Grandvalira station they teach you the technique in about an hour and a half.

Thanks to the quality of the snow in the Pyrenees, igloos are built here by compaction.

A balloon is placed at the base of the future igloo and then snow must be poured on top so that it is compacted and solid.

Once it solidifies, you just have to remove the balloon.

A very entertaining activity to do with family or friends.

Culture and shopping for urbanites

Andorra la Vella, the capital, and Escaldes-Engordany act as a great commercial magnet.

Here we find The Shopping Mile, the great commercial hub of Andorra, with more than a thousand stores, department stores and shopping centers with all international brands ... and without VAT.

The urban plan can be completed in Escaldes-Engordany with a visit to the new

Carmen Thyssen

Andorra

Museum

, located on the ground floor of the historic Hotel Valira and with some of the best works from Carmen Thyssen's private collection.
