Demi Lovato will be returning to television soon.

The singer will, according to

People

, star in

Hungry

, a new comedy produced by NBC.

The series, written by

Hot in Cleveland

creator

Suzanne Martin, will focus on a group of friends who all have food addiction issues.

For the moment,

Hungry

is only at the pilot stage, which means that the American channel can still decide not to sign the project for an entire season.

However, the network will have to pay a penalty if the series never airs, according to the

Hollywood Reporter

.

Fatal bulimia

Demi Lovato herself has never hidden her problems with food, especially her bulimia.

Last year, in an interview with the podcast hosted by model Ashley Graham, she said these same problems probably contributed to the overdose that nearly cost her her life in the summer of 2018.

“When you have people around you telling you certain things that you have to look at in a certain way, it makes it more difficult.

I just got bogged down and honestly think that's what led to everything that happened last year.

I thought I recovered when I didn't.

I lived on lies and tried to tell the world that I was happy when I wasn't really, ”she explained.

Projects outside of the music world follow suit for Demi Lovato, who also announced that her documentary series

Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil

, produced for YouTube, will premiere at the South by Southwest festival in March.

The young woman will also be a producer of

Hungry

, alongside her manager Scooter Braun.
