Shooting at your own feet with machine-gun bursts has long been the national fun of Ukraine.

Even when Petro Poroshenko was the head of the Ukrainian state, Kiev took a course towards breaking all economic ties with Russia.

This policy is costly for ordinary citizens, since the replacement of cheap Russian products with much more expensive European ones leads to a sharp increase in prices for corresponding goods on the Ukrainian market.

The most famous and ridiculous story is the refusal to purchase Russian gas in favor of reverse gas from European countries.

As a result, Ukraine receives all the same Russian fuel, which according to the documents is European, but at a higher price.

It is clear that its cost for the consumer is calculated according to the European level, although the salaries of Ukrainian citizens are far from European.

As a result, utility bills in some cases turn out to be equal to pensions or wages.

The Ukrainian communal apartment has long been overwhelming for most Ukrainians.

The new initiative of Kiev will make the life of Ukrainian citizens even more unbearable, although, it would seem, much further.

The acting head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Yuriy Vitrenko, stated the need to completely abandon the energy system unified with Russia and Belarus and his intention to unite with the European system.

Deputy of the State Duma from Crimea Ruslan Balbek commented on how this idea would turn out for the Ukrainian population.

“The minister explained everything clearly and understandably: to become Europe, it is necessary to raise the prices for energy consumption for the population even more.

Therefore, it is necessary to break the last energy ties with Russia and thereby show the whole world that for the official Kiev the standard of living of the population is far from being in the first place, ”said the Russian parliamentarian.

Ukraine is following the path of the Baltic countries, which back in 2019 signed a roadmap with representatives of the European Commission on the synchronization of the Baltic energy systems with the unified European energy system.

The work should be completed by 2025, then the Baltic region will become part of the single European energy market.

After that, the BRELL ring - a single energy system uniting Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, will cease to exist.

The Baltic states will be forced to pay more for European electricity than they paid for Russian.

However, they believe that this decision was made in order to ensure energy security: dependence on Russia threatens their national interests.

It is extremely difficult to understand how electricity supplies from Russia can pose a threat to Ukraine and the Baltic countries.

Anti-Russian hysteria has long put an end to all pragmatic considerations.

It would be fair if, based on the results of its political games, the Ukrainian state compensated its citizens for the rise in gas or electricity prices.

However, this is definitely not going to happen.

Ukrainians will pay for the sky-high electricity costs out of their own pockets.

In the same way as it was already with the so-called reverse gas.
