Despite the reluctance to confinement, the measures that the autonomous communities have been implementing are not yet reflected in the figures.

According to the data published this Monday by Health,

the accumulated incidence (AI) continues to rise and already stands at 884.70

.

Since December 10, when we reached an AI of 188.72 (the lowest we managed to reduce the second wave), we have not stopped growing and since Friday, January 8 (350.48) in a skyrocketing way.

The situation is especially worrisome in some autonomous communities, with six of them very easily exceeding the 1,000 threshold.

Extremadura continues to lead, although its AI is decreasing a bit

(1,381.37).

They are followed by

Murcia

(1,371.91),

Castilla y León

(1,351.80),

Valencian Community

(1,339.67), La Rioja (1,266.11) and Castilla-La Mancha (1,248.29), all of them increasing although at different rhythm.

Seven other autonomies are

above 600

: Melilla (971.24), Madrid (946.53), Andalusia (915.28), Aragon (751.01), Galicia (700.83) Balearic Islands (689.98) and Catalonia (639.67), these last two autonomies falling a little.

It must be remembered that in the face of the increase in infections and with the new supercontagious variants, the 27 EU countries have agreed to add one more color to the map they set a few months ago based on the incidence per 100,000 inhabitants of Covid19 cases.

In this case they add 'dark red' for those areas with more than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days

, something that today affects a large part of Spain (all the communities except Asturias, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Navarra and the Basque Country), areas for which it recommends discouraging, discouraging or discouraging non-essential travel.

The EU has no powers to isolate, close or confine, but basically it is shouting something that has also been said here: that people stay at home.

As for the number of infections, we once again beat the record for new infections after a weekend.

If last Monday 84,287 new infections were registered (displacing the other record number that was the previous Monday with 61,422 new cases),

this Monday 93,822 new cases are reported after the weekend

.

The day before, 7,698 infections were registered (on Mondays there are always less during the weekend), with Castilla y León with 1,309 cases being the autonomy where they have occurred the most.

With these more than 90,000, there are already 2,593,382 total cases since the start of the pandemic.

For those who still doubt the speed of this third wave, a note:

of these almost 2.6 million infections, almost half a million (481,600) have occurred in the last two weeks

.

If we had kept pace with the entire pandemic, we would now have about nine million infections.
