We're not going to hide it, it's not a good signal.

This Monday, the Rennes University Hospital announced the deprogramming of part of its medical and surgical operations.

The reason ?

"To face the very strong tensions of its Covid and non-Covid capacities".

The goal?

“Free up additional hospitalization capacities”.

The Rennes health establishment had to resolve to do the same in March, during the first confinement, then in November, during the second wave of coronavirus.

According to the management of the hospital, "the tension on the post-emergency medicine beds has worsened", which illustrates "the mismatch between hospitalization needs and available capacities".

The CHU specifies that this situation is not only linked to the Covid-19 epidemic but rather a combination of factors.

First, because hospital activity is 5% higher than last January, due to a "catching up" linked to deprogramming.

But above all because some services are seriously affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

The appearance of several clusters in units located downstream from hospitalization.

"The patients are then placed in single rooms and admissions are limited", justifies the CHU.

The activity related to Covid-19 is also responsible for these deprogramming.

Over the past ten days, the number of cases taken has increased by 28%.

Ninety coronavirus patients are currently hospitalized, occupying 22% of intensive care beds.

The rest of the intensive care beds are all occupied by patients with other pathologies.

The CHU has raised its Covid resuscitation plan to level 4, making it possible to go from 68 to 73 sheave beds.

The Rennes hospital is especially concerned about the rise in the incidence rate among those over 66, which has exceeded 239 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is almost twice the average for Rennes Métropole.
