The European Commissioner for Health Stella Kyriakides judged this Monday “not acceptable” the delays in delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines, and considered that the explanations provided by the British company were “not satisfactory”.

She proposed the establishment "as soon as possible" of a "transparency mechanism" on exports to countries outside the European Union of vaccines produced on its territory.

The prospect of a vaccine produced only by Europe has receded since the abandonment on Monday of the Pasteur Institute and the delay taken by the French laboratory Sanofi.
