Philippe Lacroix, the mayor of Oradour-sur-Glane (Haute-Vienne) will file a complaint against an artist who shot a clip in the village.

According to the regional daily

Le Populaire du Center

, the association of families of martyrs also intends to take legal action.

“People need to understand that freedom is freedom, but you can't do just anything in a site like Oradour.

It is an international site, symbol of misfortunes, symbol of pain and it is a place of meditation.

And in a place of meditation we do not make a video of this nature, ”said the city councilor, according to comments reported by France 3.

The video in question was supposed to be uploaded this Sunday, as the singer announced on his Twitter account on Friday.

An excerpt accompanied the message: there appeared the ruins of the village whose name has remained in history for the massacre of civilians perpetrated by the German army on June 10, 1944. 643 people had died in particularly tragic conditions.

An artist with little notoriety

It is not so much the potential content of this clip - it was not broadcast in full and, according to France 3, the song denounces violence against women - that is problematic, but the fact that its shooting was not has not been authorized.

“All filming carried out on the site of the martyr village is subject to authorizations from the Drac, the town hall, the association of families of martyrs, and the Center de la Mémoire.

They are essentially documentaries ”, explained Philippe Lacroix to the

Populaire du Center

.

According to our colleagues, the notoriety of the artist involved in this controversy is relative: he has only 19 subscribers on Twitter, barely 1,350 on Instagram and a little more than 1,000 on his YouTube channel.
