According to Pfizer / BioNTech, there are now apparently delays in the delivery of its corona vaccine at vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca.

AstraZeneca has reduced delivery commitments to the EU.

The vaccine from the Swedish-British manufacturer is to be approved by the EU by the end of January, when 56.5 million doses were ordered for Germany this year - more than Pfizer / Biontech and Moderna.

But the delivery volume will now be lower at the beginning, as a company spokeswoman confirmed on Friday at the request of the dpa.

The reason is lower yields at a production site "within our European supply chain".

It is not officially known by how much the expected delivery figures fall short of the originally planned volume.

According to the Austrian “Kurier” and “Bild”, the vaccine must also be adapted to the mutations from Great Britain, South Africa and Brazil in order not to risk that it remains ineffective.

There was also a fire at a vaccine manufacturer in India this week, which did not damage an existing manufacturing facility, but did damage a building under construction to expand production.

Virologist Hendrik Streeck defended himself with clear words against a possible questioning by the AfD.

“There is no alternative to the current lockdown and the right way to reduce the number of infections.

The AFD is abusing the Expert Council and me by falsely claiming that we have declared the lockdown to have failed.

I will take all legal means against it, ”said Streeck on Twitter.

Previously, on Tuesday, the AfD called for the immediate termination of the restrictions in Germany and apparently also referred to the findings of the expert council in North Rhine-Westphalia, to which Streeck belonged - and cited it incorrectly.
