Alsace is one of the most touristic regions in France.

But this spring 2020, it was hit hard by the coronavirus epidemic.

Classified in red for several weeks, the newspaper Le Monde had also renamed it "Coronaland".

If the word Alsace conjures up images of half-timbered houses, window geraniums and storks, this spring it has been synonymous with overwhelmed hospitals and coffins grouped together in warehouses.

15 million tourists normally visit Alsace each year.

"Alsace in need of tourists", a great report by Angélique Férat.
