Like many stars, the Village People are relieved by Donald Trump's departure from the presidency of the United States.

For the group, the originator of several LGBTQ + anthems, this also means that the former presenter of

The Apprentice

should no longer use their music.

Donald Trump has indeed chosen, once again, a title of the training born in Greenwich Village in the 1970s to end his mandate:

YMCA

.,

Co-

written by Victor Willis, the police officer.

“We asked him for a long time not to use our music.

But since he's a bully, our requests were ignored.

Fortunately, now that he is no longer in office, his abuse of our songs should stop, ”the group told TMZ.

In addition to official mailings, the Village People had also performed YMCA on

Saturday Night Live

, transforming the lyrics to speak directly to whoever was on the campaign trail last year.

An idea

The Village People are not the only artists to have banned Donald Trump from using their songs in his political rallies, to no avail.

But the group launched an idea.

“We are hoping for a change in copyright law to give artists and publishers more control over who can and cannot use their music in a public space.

For now, there is no limit, ”added the Village People.

If the law does not change, artists can count on the public for now.

Thus, during Donald Trump's presidential defeat to Joe Biden in November, it was indeed the

YMCA

that resonated in the streets of Philadelphia and elsewhere.

And the crowd, out to express their joy, danced to this title, like a thumb of the nose to one who has since become a simple citizen again.
