The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region will see new health measures, but this time they are not dictated by Paris but by Switzerland.

As of February, the country will impose a quarantine on travelers arriving from Paca, as well as several including Portugal and Israel.

A fine of up to 10,000 Swiss francs

In total, five regions in the neighboring countries of Switzerland and ten countries were added to the updated list published by the Federal Office of Public Health on Wednesday.

Failure to comply with this measure may result in a fine of up to 10,000 Swiss francs (over 9,200 euros).

A negative test does not end the quarantine.

In neighboring states, in addition to the PACA region, it is Emilia-Romagna and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy, Thuringia in eastern Germany, and Salzburg in Austria.

Among the countries added are also Spain, Cyprus, Lebanon and Monaco.

The mandatory ten-day quarantine is, however, lifted on Thursday for travelers from Croatia, Denmark, Georgia, Luxembourg and Serbia.

The decision to include a country or zone on the list depends on the incidence of the last 14 days, namely the number of new infections per 100,000 people recorded during this period.

If the incidence in a country exceeds at least 60 that of Switzerland, the country is entered in the list.
