The number of people infected with the coronavirus in France is not weakening with 22,848 new cases recorded on Thursday, according to data published on the government site.

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has been close to the three million mark since the start of the epidemic (2,987,965 cases).

With 346 new deaths in twenty-four hours, Covid-19 has now caused the death of 71,998 people in France since the start of the epidemic, according to government data.

More than 2,850 patients in intensive care

Public Health France records for its part 2,866 patients in intensive care, therefore suffering from severe forms of the disease, a figure which has continued to increase since the beginning of the month.

The number of hospitalized patients totaled 25,699, the highest level since December 8.

In the last twenty-four hours, 253 patients and 1,759 in hospital have been admitted in “shifts”, slightly less than the day before.

As of Thursday, more than 823,000 people have been vaccinated since the end of December, or about 130,220 people more than the day before.
