Corona live: Spain is pressing for a corona vaccination pass in the EU

Spain urges the EU and OECD to introduce a corona vaccination pass to make travel easier.

"It will be a very important element to ensure a safe return to mobility," said Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez to the radio station RNE.

The issuance of such a vaccination pass should be coordinated at EU level or even at global level.

Tourism plays a major role in Spain, accounting for around twelve percent of economic output.

Usually more than 80 million foreigners visit the country each year, mostly from Europe.

But tourism has collapsed because of the travel restrictions.

Since the pandemic began, more than 96.68 million people around the world have been shown to have contracted the coronavirus.

This gives a Reuters count based on official data.

The number of deaths related to the virus climbs to over 2.07 million.

By far the most infections are recorded in the USA with over 24.3 million, followed by India (10.6 million) and Brazil (8.6 million).
