Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Financial Secretary:

Hong Kong's economy is expected to recover in the second half of 2021

Hong Kong, January 19th (Reporter Chen Ran) The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chen Maobo, said on the 19th that the Hong Kong economy will still be affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic in the first half of 2021, but it is believed that recovery is expected in the second half of the year.

In a video speech at the 14th Asian Financial Forum that day, Chen Maobo said that as an open economy, Hong Kong is not immune from the epidemic.

However, with its unique "one country, two systems" system, a financial system in line with international standards, a good rule of law, advanced service industry, and free movement of people and goods, Hong Kong's economic prospects remain bright.

Chen Maobo said that as Hong Kong reforms the company's listing system and expands the interconnection mechanism, Hong Kong and the Mainland's capital markets will be more closely linked, which will help improve corporate liquidity.

The integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will bring huge opportunities to strengthen Hong Kong's "gateway" status; in the future, Hong Kong will strengthen its position as a fund management center and an international risk management center.
