[Explanation] In mid-January 2021, in a cultural and creative center in Lanzhou, five elderly models wore cultural and creative costumes of the same color as Majiayao colored pottery, constantly changing their postures and formations, and rehearsing the catwalk.

Tang Dou, 56, has been in the modeling industry for 3 years.

She told reporters that unlike other elderly models who are keen on cheongsam, they prefer the khaki-colored "Majiayao cultural and creative costumes". Every time they go out to perform, they can attract the attention of many young people.

Every time we go out to perform, including the young ones, we love to say, "Miss sister, young sister, take a photo with us. We are all very excited. We feel that we are too beautiful. This costume sets us apart."

[Explanation] Liu Xin, designer of "Majiayao Cultural and Creative Clothing", is a teacher of the Art Design Department of Longqiao College, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics.

Two years ago, when she visited the Majiayao Painted Pottery Exhibition, she was shocked by the painted pottery with frog patterns, bird patterns and dancing patterns. She tried to use them as elements to make costumes to attract more people's attention to the Majiayao culture. .

My inspiration comes from the Majiayao culture in Gansu, which belongs to the most primitive, (expressing) Gansu local people's yearning for nature, such an art form.

When I design cultural costumes this time, I also want to inherit the local Yellow River culture.

[Explanation] Majiayao culture is the most widely distributed and representative cultural site of the middle and late Neolithic period discovered in Gansu.

A large number of Majiayao colored pottery remains reflect the artistic realm of Chinese aesthetics, leaving precious historical materials for the interpretation of productivity, cultural thoughts and social changes in the ancient times.

In Liu Xin's view, how to perfectly combine traditional cultural elements with modern fashion design is a big problem that must be solved.

Therefore, in addition to observing and recording the herringbone patterns and frog patterns on the Majiayao painted pottery on the spot, she also needs to learn clothing making skills.

Finally, the “Majiayao Cultural and Creative Clothing” designed and sewn by hand was born.

(Clothing) Its overall color is also derived from the Majiayao desert color. On the fabric, woven fabrics and silk are used. When (model) walks, it will feel sparkling, just like our Yellow River culture. The feeling can be combined.

The pattern is derived from the herringbone pattern and frog pattern on the Majiayao (painted pottery), which is used for secondary creativity and then displayed on the clothing design.

[Explanation] Liu Xin is quite proud of seeing the cultural and creative clothing worn by the senior model team members and being praised by the public.

She admitted that in order to ensure the uniqueness of cultural and creative clothing, each set of clothing has a different design and would not choose mass production.

Choosing the elderly model team as a display carrier is more to admire their attitude towards life.

Nowadays, many elderly people like to catwalk, and prefer to show themselves, so let them show.

For them, it is also the expression of their youth and the love of life, spreading a positive energy.

[Explanation] In order to attract the people's continuous attention to the Majiayao culture, Liu Xin explored to knead the clay into Majiayao colored pottery, and make ear ornaments and jewelry after baking and coloring.

Currently, the sample has been released.
