[Explanation] Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Hong Kong Ocean Park will be closed for 239 days in 2020. As of June 2020, Ocean Park’s revenue has fallen 59% year-on-year to 717 million Hong Kong dollars. For this, the SAR government has allocated 3 billion Hong Kong dollar subsidies helped Ocean Park stop losses.

On January 18, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong, Yau Tenghua, explained the proposed future route of Ocean Park at a press conference.

  First, in the "New Look and New Experience" plan, the focus is on the hope that some areas of the Ocean Park can be opened to all citizens for free. At present, Admiralty has direct subway access to Ocean Park. (I believe) it can change the need for everyone to buy admission tickets or go once or half a year, so that everyone can enjoy it more often.

  The second direction is the change of operation. Ocean Park hopes to outsource some of the park facilities to other operators or operate under a business cooperation model. The park will also retain some of the core facilities to operate on its own. In the end, the cooperation between these two aspects hopes that the operation can achieve the same level of self-financing as before.
