From this Monday, travelers arriving in Guadeloupe will have to isolate themselves for seven days, announced the prefecture of the territory in a press release.

Only travelers from Martinique are not affected.

The authorities want to avoid introducing the “English variant” of the coronavirus into the territory, “by a traveler who would be carrying the virus but would not have been tested positively before departure,” explains the prefecture.

Travelers arriving in Guadeloupe, who must already present a negative PCR test, will be “subject to isolation of the same nature as the“ contact cases ”” (seven days) and will have to perform a new test seven days after their arrival in the territory, specifies the press release.

Compelling motive

"This provision will apply to travelers from all origins, with the exception of Martinique", who "will undertake on the honor to achieve this isolation on their arrival", adds the text.

Travelers between Guadeloupe and the northern islands (Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy) or Guadeloupe and Guyana must also justify, in both directions, a compelling reason for boarding.

Martinique also announced on Saturday a tightening of the conditions of entry into its territory, from Monday, with a compulsory isolation of seven days for travelers from all origins.
