Cinemas, theaters and museums still closed due to a health crisis.

The city of Bourges proposes to serve as a place of experimentation for a gradual reopening of cultural places closed for months because of the pandemic, in a letter addressed to the Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot.

"I therefore suggest, in line with your proposals, to experiment in our city the reopening of cultural places, by reworking the health protocols", writes the mayor, Yann Galut (PS), in this letter received on Sunday by the 'AFP.

"We could retain your proposal for a staggering (of these reopening): museums and monuments, cinema then live performance", continues the elected.

"The diversity of cultural sectors"

The mayor recalls that “the City of Bourges has improved the power to present the diversity of cultural sectors: museums, historical monuments, contemporary art spaces, places of live performance or dedicated to contemporary music;

under municipal, associative or EPCC (public institution for cultural cooperation) statute ", specifying that" the managers of (these) structures have said they are ready to resume the protocols implemented at the end of the first confinement and to support them ".

Roselyne Bachelot Bachelot has scheduled a meeting to assess the situation on January 20 with a view to reopening cultural venues for which she felt, at the beginning of last week, that it would be "totally irresponsible" to set a date .

"In view of this progress report on January 20, I am listening to you to implement a policy of reopening in concert with those responsible for culture and heritage, making Bourges a land of initiative", reports the mayor of Bourges.
