This Friday, 833 coronavirus vaccination centers are "open and accessible for reservation" everywhere in France, three days before the start of the campaign for all people over 75 years old, announced the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran. , During a trip to Troyes (Aube).

"This morning, 833 centers were open throughout the national territory and accessible for booking online or by phone, with a view to starting the vaccination of the general population aged 75 and over from Monday," said he declared.

More than 318,000 people vaccinated

He notably visited a center qualified as “exemplary”, associating municipal employees, private doctors, pharmacists and nurses.

This type of structure "allows us today to display vaccination figures that have absolutely nothing to envy to most of our neighbors," he said, while just over 318,000 people had officially received the precious serum on Thursday.

Assuring that he was "not in the race for numbers", Olivier Véran however affirmed that "more than a million vaccinations will be carried out" by the end of January, between 2.4 and 4 million by the end February, depending on the arrival of the remedy manufactured by AstraZeneca.

However, by adding the over 75s, residents of nursing homes and establishments for disabled people, caregivers, firefighters and home helpers over 50, as well as certain chronically ill patients, “we are already targeting 6.4 millions of French people, ”he stressed.

An acceleration of vaccination, recognizes François Baroin

Consequently, "not everyone will be vaccinated overnight" and "we will need a little time, therefore patience (...), to be able to gradually expand vaccination", starting with the approximately 7 million 65-75 years old.

At his side, François Baroin, mayor of Troyes and president of the Association of Mayors of France, nevertheless recognized that "objectively, things are better" than in December and that "there is an acceleration" of vaccination .
