Mona Malm was born in 1935 in Stockholm and started at Dramaten's student school in 1954.

She is known for her roles in, among others, Ingmar Bergman's film Fanny and Alexander from 1982 and Lars Molin's drama series Three Loves.

Mona Malm was noted for her role in the TV movie The Tattooed Widow, a film that won an Emmy for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year in 1988. There she plays the 60-year-old Ester who lives out her dreams.
