Due to heavy snowfall, cars were stuck and traffic jams occurred one after another in Toyama Prefecture, but the decision to dispatch a snowplow was delayed due to the overlap with the traffic jam in the rush to return home, and the situation worsened. I understand.

The prefecture is going to proceed with the verification.

According to Toyama Prefecture, heavy snow began in earnest from the afternoon of the 7th of this month, and in the evening the snowfall reached 10 cm, which is the standard for dispatching snowplows.

However, Toyama Prefecture did not dispatch the snowplow because it would cause heavy traffic congestion during the rush time to return home.

After that, the snowfall continued to exceed expectations and the road width narrowed, and there was a risk that the snowplow would not pass the stuck car, so the dispatch was further delayed.

For this reason, full-scale snow removal work was delayed until around noon on the 8th, and the prefecture believes that such delays in dispatching snowplows further exacerbated the situation of stalling and traffic congestion.

In response to the heavy snowfall three years ago that caused a large-scale stalling in Fukui Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture increased the number of snowplows to more than 20 and the number of surveillance cameras installed on prefectural roads to 12.

The prefecture has decided to proceed with verification, saying that the strengthened system could not be fully utilized.
