A national platform (fraisetlocal.fr), launched this Tuesday by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Chambers of Agriculture, lists more than 8,000 farms and points of sale allowing direct supply of farm products and possibly "reconciling" farmers and townspeople.

There is a "pressing need for reconciliation between the rural worlds, the urban world, and between the French and their agriculture", said the Minister of Agriculture and Food Julien Denormandie, during the presentation of this site .

Launched in a promotion of the consumption of “fresh products, local products”, the minister wants this initiative to allow “everyone to realize the face that is hidden behind their food”, by going directly to a farmer's home, in a producers' store or a farmer's drive.

The site aggregates for the moment, according to the ministry, the network “Welcome to the farm”, piloted by the Chambers of agriculture, that of agricultural education, whose establishments put on sale the fruit of their work, as well as that of the French association of professional urban agriculture (AFAUP).

Centralize initiatives

The president of the Chambers of Agriculture, Sébastien Windsor, hopes "that tomorrow it will be the reference platform for click and collect or the census of the short circuit, and that we do not leave room for other foreign platforms (for) do that with us ”.

The challenge, according to him, is to prevent consumers from getting lost among the multitude of initiatives and platforms that have flourished against a background of enthusiasm for short circuits, accentuated by the confinements decreed against Covid-19.

The transformation and direct sale of farm products are "more than a supplement of income, I cannot do without it", underlines a farmer who notices that "it was not innate" for the agricultural world " to go to the consumer ”.

Considering himself lucky to be located "in the great Parisian suburbs" with its pool of consumers, he considers it important that the platform also put forward "colleagues" all over France "who make snails, rabbits, chestnuts ... who are in big trouble ”with the crisis.
