The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced that it has confirmed that 970 new people are infected with the new coronavirus in Tokyo at the preliminary figures as of 3:00 pm on the 12th.
It was the second highest Tuesday after 1278 on the 5th of this month last week.
It is the first time since the 4th of this month that the number of confirmed infections per day has dropped below 1000.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in Tokyo to 77,133.
