After a complicated start, the vaccination campaign is starting to accelerate within nursing homes.

But only 30,000 residents have been vaccinated so far, far from the target the government had set for the end of January.

The government wants to speed up vaccination in nursing homes.

More than 138,000 people have been vaccinated in France, according to the latest count from the authorities, including only 30,000 among residents of institutions for seniors.

"Theoretically, we had set ourselves to vaccinate the million residents of nursing homes (and assisted living facilities and autonomous residences,

) for the month of January. We must boost," acknowledged the Minister Delegate in charge of Autonomy, Brigitte Bourguignon.

In the field, the vaccination process is in any case being put in place.

Numerous deliveries of doses in the coming days ...

After a tedious start in terms of logistics, the vaccination process is gaining momentum.

The organization of injections over three days is quite manageable.

Regarding transport, 75% of vaccines are delivered by dispensing pharmacies and 25% come from hospitals.

On the calendar side, the delivery dates are now fixed.

"The deployment of doses in the 7,000 nursing homes in France is done in three to four weeks", noted on Europe 1 Florence Arnaiz-Maumé, general delegate of Synerpa (national union of establishments and residences for the elderly), which represents the houses private pensions.

"The establishments have received calendars that can offer them a delivery date as early as this week or next week. There are a lot of deliveries the week of January 18, then that of January 27 and February 2".

... but still too far apart for some establishments

The Synerpa general delegate regrets, however, that the deliveries are too far apart for some establishments.

Ehpad that were not to be delivered until February 2 have therefore requested that this date be brought forward.

The nursing homes are also asking for more visibility on the date of the second injection.

The recall could thus be done six weeks later, instead of three.

But Synerpa regrets that there has been no official communication from Pfizer to ensure that the efficacy of the vaccine remains the same in this case.

Deputy Minister Brigitte Bourguignon set "the goal that at the end of January all nursing home residents who so wish can be vaccinated".
