The new series will be called "And just like that ..." and the plot revolves around friends Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) who is now in her 50s.
Any reason why Kim Catrall's role Samantha Jones will not be featured is not addressed in the statement from HBO.

In total, six seasons of the series were broadcast, plus two feature films.
The Spinoff series The Carrie diaries ran for two seasons from 2013 and is about the same people, but takes place before Sex in the city.
