With

Thalassa

, a program dedicated to all the seas of the world, journalist Georges Pernoud created a television magazine with exceptional longevity.

He presented this program from 1980 to 2017, an unmissable Friday night event for millions of dreamers or ocean enthusiasts.

1,704 programs and thousands of reports and surveys on the world of the sea and those who make a living from it.

Meeting with fishermen, discovery of archipelagos, reports on the Route du rhum, but also on the rescue of migrants ... The program addressed all the facets of the big blue.

Georges Pernoud certainly passed on his love of the sea, but he was also the precursor of ecological awareness.

His television studio was a barge moored on the Seine.

Born in Morocco, Georges Pernoud had a real revelation on the occasion of the cover as reporter of his first sailing race around the world in 1973. Two years later, the magazine

Thalassa

was born.

The cult credits of the show where marine shapes were transformed on a blue background have accompanied several generations.

Thalassa

won two Albert-London awards in the 1990s.
