A PCR or antigen test will be mandatory within 48 hours -

LOUAI BARAKAT / SIPA

This Sunday, the work stoppage for the risk of Covid-19 comes into effect, at least until March 31.

A very special device: there is no waiting period or entitlement condition and does not require a visit to the doctor upstream.

The goal of these facilitated procedures is that the French do not take any risk in the event of doubt of infection with the coronavirus, in order to avoid contaminating their colleges at work.

“The French are very aware of the stakes which seek to isolate themselves from the onset of the first symptoms.

Our duty is to lift all brakes so that they respect this principle ”, justified the Minister of Health Olivier Véran in a press release.

How does it work ?

All employees, public and private, can benefit from this work stoppage as soon as they notice symptoms that may be linked to the coronavirus, but also for any contact case unable to telework.

As soon as the first symptoms are observed, the worker must declare himself on declare.ameli.fr or declare.msa.fr, where he will receive proof to provide to his employer.

Once this has been done, the worker must perform a test (antigen or PCR) within 48 hours, and reconnect to the site of his declaration to indicate the date and place of screening.

Almost full compensation

Three options: if the test is negative, the work stoppage ends and the worker must return to work.

If the test is positive, the sick leave is extended, and the worker benefits, from the day after the result, from a sick leave without waiting period.

Nevertheless, to avoid any risk of fraud, the Health Insurance undertakes to carry out a “systematic follow-up, with two to three telephone calls over seven days”.

Finally, last possibility, if the test is negative but the symptoms persist (a possibility given that the tests are not 100% reliable), a doctor must then be consulted to obtain a new stoppage of work.

Salary compensation is paid from the first day of stoppage until the test result is obtained.

“The employee receives a daily allowance paid by Health Insurance, up to 50% of the gross salary, and an additional allowance paid by the employer, of 90% of the gross salary, from the first day of stoppage.

The replacement rate reaches 99% of net salary, ”Olivier Véran told France Info.
