Some 2.6 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19 will be delivered to France by the end of January, the Minister for Industry, Agnès Pannier-Runacher assured Friday on Europe 1.

Asked about the number of doses actually delivered in a context of a slower start of vaccinations in France than in other European countries, she replied that "there are 520,000 per week and therefore we arrive at the end of the month to around 2.6 million doses delivered ”.

The calendar announced in December "slightly modified"

Agnès Pannier-Runacher acknowledged that the schedule announced in December by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran, who had promised one million doses delivered before the end of 2020, had been “slightly modified”, with a postponement of the delivery of doses scheduled for late December to January 3 or 4.

This delay corresponded to "a request from the Member States to be able to gradually absorb the doses and not have to keep them too long before their use", she affirmed.

"Today, the subject is to obtain the consent of the people and to ensure that everyone is confident in the use of the vaccine," said the minister.

In France, the Récipharm laboratory will produce the vaccine for the American biotech Moderna "from the end of February - the beginning of March", indicated Agnès Pannier-Runacher, who added that "we will then have Delpharm and Fareva who will follow, Delpharm for the vaccine from BioNTech and Fareva for the Curevac vaccine if it is released on the market ”.

"We will serve the entire European market"

"We will serve the entire European market", she again promised, rejecting any priority for the national market of future French production and recalling that the active principle of Moderna's vaccine was currently produced in Switzerland, which has large RNA production capacities.

The Minister thus welcomed European solidarity and considered that the Germans "have played the game" for group purchases of doses.

She also said she was "shocked" by a possible "nationalist withdrawal where everyone would produce their little vaccine in their corner" for their unique needs.
