Since Monday, the teachers of the Battières college in Lyon have been on strike to support one of their colleagues attacked by a parent of students.
They denounce the silence of the rectorate.
The professor was violently attacked on November 9 for paying tribute to Samuel Paty a week earlier.
He now thinks of "feeding stomachs rather than brains".
A history and geography teacher at the Collège des Battières, located in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon, was forced to put away his pens, notebooks and textbooks to turn to the stoves in the future.

His colleagues went on strike to support him and denounce the silence of the rectorate.

On November 9, the professor in question was the victim of a verbal assault.
Violently attacked, in public and in front of the gates of the establishment, by one of the parents of the students accusing him of having spoken about Samuel Paty and of having assimilated Muslims to terrorists, a week earlier during of the national tribute to the beheaded teacher.
The teacher has since been on sick leave.
He is seriously considering changing jobs.
“I asked for appeasement, for conciliation.
Everything was refused to me by the family, including an interview with the children to restore the reality of what I said.

He also says he is “in solidarity”: “I blame the institution for having waited and not having dealt with this problem quickly”.
“Since then, several serious breaches of internal regulations have occurred.
We were waiting for a strong response from the institution… which did not come, ”continues her colleague,“ in revolt ”.
And to deplore: "This does not allow us to carry out our missions in serene conditions".

Parents, too, were "outraged" by what happened.
“We see a professor leaving the establishment.
Why should he leave and feel uncomfortable in college?
