A snowman in a striped bathing suit has recently appeared on Danish children's screens.

Its originality?

He has the "longest penis in the world."

What create controversy even in the progressive Scandinavian country.

John Dillermand

is an animation program that has been airing since January 2 on Ramasjang, the children's channel.

The first of thirteen episodes has been viewed 140,000 times.

“We consider it an important task to be able to tell stories about the body.

With the series, we recognize the nascent curiosity [of young children] for the body and the genitals, as well as the embarrassment and the pleasure of the body ”, defended the Danish public television DR this Tuesday on Facebook.

"It's a very Danish program"

The program is aimed at four to eight year olds and features the famous John and his exaggeratedly long penis in his daily life, from the outing of his dog to the bike race or the walk in the zoo.

He finds himself in incredible situations, once flying over the city, his penis attached to balloons.

"It's a very Danish program," said Sofie Münster, a specialist in Nordic education, to AFP.

"We have a tradition of pushing the limits in a humorous way and finding that completely normal."

On the public side, many Danes said they were outraged.

"It is the most disgusting and least appropriate program for children on a children's channel for a long time," protested one Internet user.

“I don't think looking at the genitals of adult men should be transformed into something common for children.

Is that the public service?

», Expressed indignation the far-right MP Morten Messerchmidt on Facebook.

“This debate starts from the perspective of adults, in which the long penis is sexualized, children have a totally different perspective,” says Sofie Münster.
