  • A man born in 1999 and suspected of being one of the organizers of the Lieuron rave party was indicted on Monday.

  • The public prosecutor opened a judicial investigation to try to identify the other organizers.

  • On New Year's Eve, 2,500 people participated in a huge party in a hangar south of Rennes.

He is not yet 22 years old, lives in a truck parked with a relative in Iffendic, west of Rennes.

Described as a homeless person by the public prosecutor of Rennes, this man is for the moment the only suspect to have been apprehended by the gendarmes, who suspect him of being one of the organizers of the rave party which brought together 2,500 people in Lieuron on New Year's Eve.

Indicted, he was remanded in custody on Monday evening.

“He was not the only organizer, it's obvious,” says Philippe Astruc.

Faced with a very large press, the public prosecutor of Rennes hammered out a message of firmness.

“There is no impunity.

Two-thirds of the parties were fined and we are doing everything we can to identify, find and challenge all the organizers ”.

Saturday, two people had been arrested in Iffendic, a few hours after the extinction of the music which had resounded loudly in a hangar since the evening of December 31.

Alerted by the presence of 300 vehicles in a parking lot in Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon (Loire-Atlantique), the gendarmes tried to prevent the event from taking place, but they suffered violence.

One of their vehicles had been set on fire and two others vandalized.

Three gendarmes were also injured.

A man suspected of stealing equipment from the burnt out vehicle will be called to court in August.

Two investigating judges have been appointed to conduct the investigation and identify the organizers of the illegal gathering, which created a stir amid the coronavirus epidemic.

The gendarmes will be able to rely on the surveillance of the mobile phones used for the organization of the rally.

It is through this that the only one indicted was confused.

On December 31, the latter had sent more than 1,000 SMS to around 70 contacts.

“These facts have legitimately shocked and they will not go unpunished.

We hold the organizers primarily responsible for this premeditated event.

It is irresponsible and deeply asocial behavior, ”said the prosecutor.

"Stands selling narcotics"

On site, 1,225 people were fined for non-compliance with health instructions and 225 others received a fixed fine related to the consumption of narcotics.

"On the spot, the investigators were able to note that stands selling drugs such as cannabis, cocaine and LSD had been set up under marquees," added Philippe Astruc.

Sound equipment was seized from the principal defendant.

The prosecutor had requested his placement in pre-trial detention "to avoid any risk of consultation" with the other protagonists.
