Research, cultural heritage, heritage management, talent training and other fields will enhance exchanges, and digital technology has promoted closer cultural heritage cooperation between each other.

  According to reports, during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the Gansu Cultural Relics and Cultural Museum System will conduct academic exchanges and seminars in the cultural relics and cultural fields with more than 60 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Afghanistan, India, and Austria. "Exhibition into the United Nations" "Religious Art on the Silk Road—Dunhuang Buddhist Grottoes Exhibition", "Chinese Qin and Han Art Empire Times Exhibition", "Special Exhibition of Huren Figures on the Silk Road", "Dunhuang Architectural Art Exhibition", and "Silk Road Cultural Relics" “Exhibition” and other cultural relics with the theme of Silk Road culture have been exhibited more than 30 times.

  Today, the complete set of cultural relics protection technologies accumulated by the Dunhuang Academy for more than 70 years have not only participated in many key cultural relics protection and restoration projects across the country, but also shared and applied them to countries along the “Belt and Road”.

  The Dunhuang Academy also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the British Crown Prince’s Traditional Academy and other institutions to complete the main tasks of the Kyrgyzstan ancient castle ruins research and protection project; the establishment of the "Silk Road Cultural Relics Science and Technology Innovation Alliance" and "Silk Road Cultural Heritage Protection International Science and Technology Cooperation" The National Engineering Technology Research Center for the Protection of Ancient Murals and Earthen Sites and China’s first multi-field coupling laboratory for cultural relics protection will be established, and relevant scientific research results and standards and specifications will be promoted to countries along the route.

  "The digitization of cultural relics" has become one of the important ways for Gansu to carry out cultural exchanges and cooperation with countries along the Silk Road. The Dunhuang Academy has more than 30 years of experience in this area.

Zhao Shengliang, director of the Dunhuang Academy, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency that digital technology provides an important way for the sharing and return of Dunhuang documents.

  In the past five years, Gansu has built a data cloud platform for Dunhuang cultural heritage resources, promoted the digital return project of Dunhuang posthumous books and other cultural relics scattered overseas, completed the investigation of the "Dunhuang Library Unearthed Document Catalog", and expanded the "International Dunhuang Project" agreement with the British Library.

Using cultural relics digitization technology, we have successively carried out the "Digital Dunhuang" project cooperation with relevant national institutions that collect Dunhuang cultural relics such as the United Kingdom and France. Some overseas Dunhuang cultural relics have achieved digital return.
