Before the start of the holidays, the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic had spared only about fifteen of the 130 or so nursing homes in Haute-Garonne, 13% of residents affected by Covid-19 since the 17th have succumbed to it.

Some establishments have even had to deal with several successive clusters.

It is therefore naturally towards these sites which welcome vulnerable people that the vaccination in Occitania will begin this week.

In total, 57 places have been identified by the Regional Health Agency.

These 47 nursing homes and ten long-term care units in hospitals in Occitanie will implement from Monday the protocol for information, consultation and collection of residents' consent before moving on to the first injections by the end of the week.

As of December 31, the region recorded 773 new positive cases every day, or 2.5% of tests performed on average over the past seven days.

On the last day of the year, 1,036 people affected by SarsCoV-2 were hospitalized in the regions, including 116 in intensive care.
