Here is how the Chinese "Sinopharm" vaccine works for Coronavirus

The new Chinese vaccine, "Sinopharm", has taken the lead in fighting the Corona virus globally, until it has become among the basic vaccines that fight the pandemic that paralyzed the world, so that the most important question remains about the mechanism of action of this vaccine and its effectiveness.

In early 2020, the Beijing Institute of Biological Products created a vaccine for the Coronavirus called "BBIBP-CorV", and it was later placed in clinical trials by the state-owned Chinese company, "Sinopharma", this vaccine was officially approved Thursday, and global countries will start By using it for vaccination, in the footsteps of the Emirates and Bahrain, which have already started using it.

The "Sinopharm" vaccine works by pushing the human immune system to make antibodies to the Corona virus, which are bound to viral proteins, such as the so-called spiny proteins that encircle the surface of the virus.

To produce the vaccine, researchers at the Peking Institute brought 3 types of corona virus, from infected people in Chinese hospitals, in addition to a mutated virus that can reproduce, according to the American "New York Times" newspaper.

When researchers produced large stocks of corona viruses, they poured them with a chemical called beta-propiolactone, and the compound disrupted corona viruses by attaching to their genes, and the disrupted corona viruses could no longer reproduce.

Then the researchers pulled the inactivated viruses and mixed them with a small amount of an aluminum-based compound as an adjuvant, to stimulate these adjuvants to stimulate the immune system to enhance its response to the vaccine, the newspaper indicated.

It is reported that inactivated viruses have been used for more than a century, and the innovator of the polio vaccine in the 1950s, Jonas Salk, used them and are among the basic rules for vaccines against a number of diseases, including rabies and hepatitis (A).
