[Explanation] This summer, the catastrophic floods hit Wuyuan, Jiangxi. The wooden structure of the bridge deck, two corridors and one pavilion of the No. 2 pier at the east end of the Rainbow Bridge of the Southern Song Dynasty covered bridge with a history of more than 800 years was washed away. "The whole network has been searching, and more than 70 log constructions that have been washed away by the flood have been collected.

A few days ago, the part of the Rainbow Bridge that was destroyed by the water began to be repaired.

At the repair site, a crane slowly hoisted a load-bearing beam and placed it on the bridge pier.

This beam was the one that was washed down by the flood in the last disaster. After we discovered that the beam was salvaged, we will re-adjust the beam to its original position in this ceremony today.

The repair process is mainly divided into two parts, one is the repair of the damaged part of the bridge deck, and the other is the processing of the bridge foundation and the foundation of the river bed.

In view of the fact that the Rainbow Bridge is a national key protected cultural relic by the State Council, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage has organized experts to conduct demonstrations and finally formed a restoration plan.

We will inspect all the collected log components. If there is no damage, we will restore it as it is during the repair process. We will use the damaged part as a sample, copy it with reference to its style, and then replace it.

We will also analyze these damaged components to find out the weak points in the construction of the Rainbow Bridge, which will be reinforced during this repair.

According to Zhan Jianchun, there are also many touching stories in the process of collecting logs in the early stage. They will try their best to recreate the charm of the Rainbow Bridge to tourists.

They were a pair of villagers, father and son, and they saw the pier of a bridge. The beam was stuck there. They were worried that the beam would continue to be washed away when the flood receded and the water level dropped. So they pulled a rope to tie the beam to the crane. Then, after the water level dropped, they jumped into the flood and pushed the beam to the shore, and then reported it to the cultural relics department.

We expect to be completed by the end of March.

When the rape blossoms bloom next year, the original Rainbow Bridge will be shown to tourists.
