Editorial director of "Paris Match", where he had returned 35 years ago, Olivier Royant died at the age of 58 following a long illness.

Within the famous magazine, he had been a major reporter, then a correspondent in the United States, before joining the management in 1998.

He returned to

Paris Match

in 1985. Olivier Royant, editorial director of the famous weekly, died Thursday after a long illness.

"Olivier was a great professional, sensitive and his benevolent gaze on others was rare. He will be sadly missed," responded Constance Benqué, director of Pole News of the Lagardère group, owner of

Paris Match

and Europe 1.

Oliver Royant had been trained at Sciences-Po Paris.

After a hook on free radio, he entered Paris Match in 1985. In the early 1990s, he was appointed correspondent in the United States, while pursuing a university course at the prestigious Columbia University in New York.
