What to do for New Year's Eve on December 31?

This year ends as it unfolded: at home, and therefore potentially in front of your television.

France Télévisions entertainment director Alexandra Redde Amiel and BFMTV journalist Aurélie Casse detailed their programs for the new year on Thursday on Europe 1.

This year the traditional New Year's Eve of December 31 is upset by the coronavirus: it will be impossible to go out from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Many French people will be forced to stay at home, so, more than ever, television will be an anti-depression remedy.

This is explained by the director of entertainment at France Télévisions, Alexandra Redde Amiel and the journalist from BFMTV Aurélie Casse in the

Culture-Médias program

, Thursday on Europe 1.

A blooper on TF1, an evening in Versailles on France 2

"If our viewers are there, it's even better. But above all I believe that to please, to give joy, to entertain, it will be the most beautiful of rewards", confides Alexandra Redde Amiel at the microphone of Europe 1. Facing the traditional blooper of TF1, France 2 offers an evening in Versailles.

A great show of more than 40 artists hosted by Stéphane Bern and directed by Kamel Ouali.

A complicated evening to organize according to the director of entertainment.

"What is important in a year as special as this is to tell yourself that whatever happens, we are going to celebrate all together. It was complicated for everyone because we are in a moment of crisis. which is such that sometimes we wondered if we were going to be able to do shows, ”she explains.

And December 31 is a major issue for the chain.

France 2 has been looking for a solution to replace Patrick Sébastien for two years now.

Last year the trio Daphné Burki, Sophie Davant and Faustine Bollaert had been slightly ahead in audience by the blooper of TF1.

On France 3, it will be a whole different atmosphere.

The public channel will broadcast

Murders in Colmar

followed by

Murders in the Landes

to end 2020.

A light evening on BFMTV

Apart from traditional programs, the 24-hour news channels also offer a special evening for the New Year. And on BFMTV, there will be no question of evoking the Covid-19.

"It will not be a retrospective of the year 2020. The objective is really to spend New Year's Eve together with the French, thanks to our reporters who will be present in the different families", according to journalist Aurélie Casse, who is organizing the New Year's Eve.

On the program, a light evening with a virtual concert by Jean-Michel Jarre, Crazy Horse dancers but also reports from all over France, like in a maternity ward to film the first babies of 2021. And "the particularity of BFMTV", according to Aurélie Casse, "is that this evening will be 100% live, unlike the other channels which record these evenings well in advance. Thus, the artists and the virtual concert of Jean-Michel Jarre will be live" .
