The New Year's Eve will be, for some, a little watered.

To make the hangover the next day a little easier, Doctor Jimmy Mohamed gives some advice in his column "Our health", on Europe 1.

This year, New Years Eve will be like no other.

Many will stay at home because of the curfew, which will apply from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

However, at home or in small groups of six people, you may be straining a little on the alcohol.

Doctor Jimmy Mohamed explains to you on Europe 1 how to avoid the famous hangover of the aftermath of drunken evenings.

"I don't really like the term 'hangover' because it has a nice side to it. But a 'hangover' is just alcohol poisoning. It's your body's reaction to some form of poisoning. So, in order not to have a "hangover", you must already control your alcohol consumption.

Alternate a glass of alcohol and a glass of water

If despite everything, the day after a New Year's Eve respectful of barrier gestures, of course, you have unbearable headaches, it is linked to dehydration.

Alcohol blocks the effect of the anti-diuretic hormone, which normally prevents you from passing urine.

If you drink alcohol, you tend to go wee a lot.

It's your kidneys trying to get rid of the alcohol.

Therefore, you will lose a lot of water.

There is a benchmark: for 4 glasses of wine, you lose a liter of water in the body.

We will then have to drink water to compensate for this.

I advise you to alternate a glass of alcohol with a glass of water.

What remedies for the next day?

I recommend coffee and tea first: these drinks are diuretic.

They make you urinate, therefore, making your headaches worse.

I also advise against taking aspirin or Doliprane because your body, and in particular your liver, is already putting all its energy into trying to eliminate alcohol.

If you add extra medicine it will have a hard time doing its job.

There are therefore only two things to do: drink a lot of water and take your pain patiently ".
