Wang Zhihua, Director of the Department of Emergency Mitigation and Public Services of the China Meteorological Administration, said on the 31st that the temperature in the central and eastern regions is expected to gradually rise during the New Year’s Day holiday, but the New Year’s Day will be affected by the residual cold wave in the early period. The temperature is still significantly lower than normal.

The China Meteorological Administration held a press conference on the 31st.

At the meeting, Wang Zhihua introduced the national weather trends during the New Year's Day holiday.

The temperature in the central and eastern regions will gradually rise, but on New Year’s Day Affected by the remnants of the previous cold wave, the temperature was still significantly lower than normal.

The specific forecast is as follows:

On New Year's Day, there was light snow in northern Xinjiang, and most of the country was sunny; the temperature in central and eastern Inner Mongolia, northern Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, northeastern and southern parts of the country was 3~5℃ lower than usual, and 6~8℃ locally.

On the 2nd, the weather in most parts of the country was sunny to cloudy. The temperature in the central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia, the northeast and most parts of the south was 2~4℃ lower than usual, and the lowest temperature in Jiangnan and most parts of Guizhou was still below 0℃.

On the 3rd, most of the northern part of the weather was mainly sunny, the southern part was cloudy, and the 0℃ line of temperature in the central and eastern regions moved north to the central part of Jianghan to the northeastern part of Jiangnan.

In terms of the forecast of the national climate trend in January 2021, it is expected that the temperature in most parts of the country in January 2021 will be lower than normal.

Except for most of Tibet and the western part of Southwest China, the temperature is higher than normal. The temperature in most other parts of the country is close to or lower than normal. Among them, central and western Inner Mongolia, northern North China, southwest Jianghan, western Jiangnan, and eastern Southwest 1~2℃ lower.

In addition, precipitation in most areas of the country is close to normal to less than normal.

Most of North China, the northern part of Huanghuai, and most of South China are 20 to 50% less; the northwest of Xinjiang, the southeast of the northwest, most of the southwest, the west of Jianghan, the south of Jianghuai, the northwest of Jiangnan and the northeast, etc. have more precipitation.

Based on the above situation, the China Meteorological Administration prompts:

One is to pay attention to preventing the impact of adverse weather on agricultural production.

It is expected that in January, the temperature in the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia and the northern part of North China will be low, which will be unfavorable to facility agriculture and animal husbandry.

The eastern part of Southwest China and the western part of Jiangnan may have phased low-temperature rain and snow disasters, which are unfavorable to open-field vegetables, economic trees and fruits and rape.

Most of South China has little precipitation, and drought may develop in some areas.

It is recommended that the north should do a good job in strengthening and heat preservation of facility agriculture, and the pastoral areas should do well in forage storage and scheduling, shed reinforcement and cold protection and warmth as soon as possible; in the eastern part of the southwest and the western part of the south of the Yangtze River, timely harvest mature economic fruits and vegetables in open fields and take effective measures Prevent low temperature and frost damage; all parts of South China should increase revenue and reduce expenditure, and actively prevent and fight drought.

The second is to pay attention to preventing the impact of low temperature weather on production and life.

The cold air activities that affect our country in January are more frequent. All localities should pay close attention to the adverse effects of phased strong cooling weather and continuous low temperature weather on physical health and travel. The public should keep cold and warm to prevent colds.

The third is to take precautions against the impact of adverse weather on transportation.

January is still a relatively frequent period of fog, haze, rain, snow, and strong winds. All localities and departments must pay close attention to weather changes, and implement emergency management and control of transportation under severe weather conditions to ensure traffic safety.

In addition, a reporter asked, some people said that this year's New Year's Day may be the coldest New Year's Day in the past 9 years, or even the coldest in the past 16 years. Is there such a possibility?

Which regions and cities are likely to see the first snow of the new year?

What impact does the New Year's Day weather have on people's travel?

In response, Wei Li, deputy director of the Central Meteorological Observatory, responded that during the New Year’s Day, the cold air is weak and mainly affects the northeast and northern parts of North China. Except for the light snow in northern Xinjiang, most areas of the country are mainly sunny to cloudy. There will be a wide range of rain and snow; the temperature in the central and eastern regions will gradually rise, and there will be no extreme coldness and a wide range of continuous severe fog and haze.

Generally speaking, weather conditions are conducive to outdoor activities.

It's just that although the temperature on New Year's Day has picked up, it is still significantly lower than normal. Therefore, we should pay attention to cold and warm.
