The son of British Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, who came from the USA, addressed a few words to the public for the first time - and caused a sensation in the British media with his American accent.

Archie, born in May 2019, wishes his parents a "Happy New Year" at the end of a podcast published on Tuesday on the Spotify streaming platform.

The one and a half year old great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II had "a very strong American accent," commented the Royals expert of the British newspaper "Daily Mail" on Archie's appearance.

The tabloid "Sun" also stated, "Baby Archie has an American accent."

After the young family moved from the UK to Canada earlier this year, they later found a new home in Meghan's native California.

It was Harry and Meghan's first podcast for Spotify.

This month the couple announced that they had signed a contract with the streaming platform to produce "fun and entertaining stories."

For their New Year's Eve podcast, the couple brought together testimonials from famous friends such as singer Elton John and TV presenter James Corden about their handling of the corona pandemic.

Prince Harry and the former US actress were married in May 2018.

In March, the couple officially retired from the front row of the British royal family.

The decision to do so at the turn of the year 2019/2020 caused a lot of buzz and criticism.

Harry and Meghan, who now also want to stand financially on their own two feet, have signed a contract with Netflix as well as with Spotify.

They want to produce films and series for the streaming service.
