It's time to decide between all the amateur pastry chefs who have been competing for weeks on M6.

Wednesday evening the final of the chain's pastry competition takes place, a little upset by the coronavirus this year.

For the occasion, Judge Mercotte, who had to evaluate the candidates remotely, recounts her experience in the "Culture-Media" program on Europe 1.

It's already time for the "Best Pastry Chef" grand finale.

The M6 channel show therefore broadcasts the last episode of the current season, Wednesday evening.

And the program is going wonderfully: the pastry competition is so successful that there are now two seasons a year.

Judge Mercotte, still alongside Cyril Lignac on the show, revealed on Europe 1 some secrets about the final.

"I wanted to taste, but I couldn't do it"

But this season has been a bit special.

It was filmed during the summer, after the first confinement, except that the shooting had to be stopped in the middle of the ordeal because of a case of Covid-19 in the technical team.

A temporary stop of one month, but on the return, Judge Mercotte had to stay at a distance, considered as a person at risk in the face of the virus.

Since then, the pastry expert decides between the candidates ... in video.

"To judge, visually it's quite easy even from afar. We are still used to it. After taste, I completely trust Cyril", she explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

Mercotte confides however that she was a little frustrated not being able to taste: "I was in the place of the viewer because I saw what was happening, I wanted to taste, but I could not do it . It was a bit of a shame.

So if the season has been a little upset by the pandemic, the final promises to be "very beautiful" for Mercotte.

“There is suspense. Nobody really knows who will win, I think it's great,” she continues.

For this all-female final, two events are scheduled.

There is "first the challenge of Cyril which consists in reproducing the cake of the credits. At this stage, we will eliminate one of the three finalists", explains Mercotte.

Everything will then be decided on the second test where the candidates "will have to represent in cake, a film that they liked very much, a masterpiece of cinema", she adds.

The final of the famous pastry competition is to be consumed without moderation from 9:05 pm, Wednesday, on M6.
